About me
Danielle Bush Gerko is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Manager of the Cyber Security Operations Team at Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC). In this role, she oversees the organization’s Security Operations Center (SOC), mentors staff, manages budgets, and leads cyber-related initiatives. With extensive expertise in cybersecurity operations and compliance, she monitors, analyzes, and correlates cyber events to assess and mitigate security risks. She also collaborates with Cyber Security and IT leaders to design and implement security tools and strategies that protect CTC’s corporate network from evolving threats. Additionally, she leverages her compliance expertise to help teams identify and collect necessary artifacts, ensuring adherence to frameworks such as PCI, NIST SP 800-171, and CMMC.
Ms. Gerko’s tenure at CTC spans multiple roles. She initially worked with the organization from 1996 to 2007 as a Technical Lead, Line Manager, and Project Manager, contributing to cybersecurity and web development initiatives. She later returned in 2020 as a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, focusing on cyber compliance efforts before advancing to her current leadership position.
Before rejoining CTC, Ms. Gerko served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College (2007–2016), where she modernized the institution’s IT infrastructure by transitioning to a hybrid-cloud service delivery model, ensuring seamless access to business and educational resources. She then became the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at NPC, Inc. (2016–2020), leading both the Cyber Security and Physical/Personnel Security departments. During her tenure at NPC, she spearheaded the development of an in-house Security Operations Center (SOC), ensuring compliance with NIST SP 800-53, AICPA SOC 2, HITRUST, and PCI standards. She also launched a cybersecurity workforce training program, equipping non-technical personnel with the skills necessary to transition into cybersecurity analyst roles through re-skilling and job shadowing.
Ms. Gerko holds a Master’s degree in IT Project Management from Robert Morris University and a Bachelor’s degree from Juniata College. She is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA), and Certified CMMC Professional (CCP).
